Her St Martin’s U16s side won 3-1 over the Saints U15s on the ground which has been a second home for her for the last 12 years.

‘From starting at the age of 4 and finishing at 16, the club has been a big part of my life,’ she said later.

‘A massive thanks to all the boys, coaches, sponsors and supports who have helped me develop.’

St Martin’s Twitter feed referred to a ‘fantastic show of respect last night from her teammates to give Maya the send-off she deserved,’ adding: ‘been fantastic for us on and off the pitch so good luck in the UK.’

The England age-group international will now play for Brighton in the UK where she will attend Worthing College from September.

Meanwhile, the London House Bels will be aiming for promotion at the first attempt this afternoon.

Having been pipped by Police to the Lancaster Railway League 2 title they face a play-off against Rangers for the right to be playing Railway League 1 football next season.

They secured their play-off place recently with an emphatic 3-0 victory against Rocquaine Pirates thanks to a fine Ben Ogier hat-trick.

But the former social league side will be without one of their talismen, Todd Ogier, for the game after he collapsed at home recently and was rushed into intensive care.

Nick Mollet’s team will be looking to win the match for the popular player.

n The game kicks-off at 2pm at Victoria Avenue.
