FORWARD Seb Skillen is the latest Guernsey FC squad man to sign for Vale Rec, following on from midfielder Thomas Dodds and wing-back Keanu Marsh.

And in another perhaps key move for the Corbet Field club, they have re-signed central defender Matt Ozanne who, until illness struck, was a mainstay in the North back-line which helped put them in a winning position until coronavirus ended last season prematurely .

The chance to play 90 minutes on a regular basis will be a treat for the skilful Skillen, who has spent hours on the bench for GFC in recent seasons.

In all, he has made 45 of his 77 GFC appearances off the bench.

But he also has a knack of scoring important goals and his GFC career has yielded seven, three as a sub.

Craig Tyrrell, the Vale player-coach, is thrilled.

‘Over the moon. We are getting to the stage where we have competition for every place on the pitch,’ he said yesterday.

‘The signings will really raise the level of intensity in training too – which should bring out the best in the whole squad.’

St Martin’s have also made their first significant move in the summer ‘market’ with striker Danny Hale rejoining after a frustrating, injury-hit season at North.

Hale was a key performer in Saints’ Priaulx League triumph of the 2018-19 season and regardless of whether Ross Allen puts pen to paper at Blanche Pierre Lane, Hale’s return will surely improve the Saints’ goal output.

‘I’m thrilled that he’s come back to Saints,’ said Saints coach Leon Meakin yesterday.

Bels, meanwhile, are expected to further add to their roster in the coming days and club president Andy Robert confirmed that forward Robbie Williams, a title winner with them six years back, has returned to add to an ever-bulging squad.
