Mixed news for Manzur
MANZUR are hopeful of finding a home venue for their FNB Priaulx League side next season and are in talks to find somewhere separately for their lower sides to play out of.
Mark Romeril, the club’s long-serving first-team coach, admits, though, there remains much to ponder as he prepares for Manzur’s return to Priaulx action a fortnight today with a home game against Rangers, the side who somewhat sensationally defeated the former Social League side just before the current lockdown.
Romeril’s side retain a very strong nucleus of Guernsey FC players and will be a danger to two of the three title-chasing clubs on the resumption.
St Martin’s still have to play Manzur twice, Sylvans the once.
Further ahead, Romeril knows all too well that his squad could be decimated by the increasingly likely return of Guernsey FC next season.
He had already been operating with a small squad and the prospect of losing Thomas Dodds, the Mahon brothers and possibly Tom Martin, Jordan Kelly, Dave Rihoy and Matt Loaring to the Green Lions is a major worry, regardless of the ground issues.
Romeril knows all too well that while GFLM can support and encourage them to the hilt, the league organising body can’t find them players.
