One Dodds comes in, one Dodd goes out
THOMAS DODDS is back in the Guernsey FC squad today after missing the club’s last seven games through injury.
But while the midfield options get a boost for the visit of surprise strugglers Hythe Town, there is a blow in that skipper Jamie Dodd is suspended.
Dodds last appeared in the Green Lions’ home win against VCD Athletic on 6 October, since when the side have progressed fairly smoothly to sit on the edge of the play-off spots.
A home win today could see GFC rise to as high as fourth if results elsewhere go their way.
Vance describes Hythe as ‘dangerous’.
‘We’ve often struggled against, them to be honest.’
Can GFC get into the play-offs?
Vance says he would be ‘disappointed and frustrated’ if they don’t with the current squad available to him.
He has also worked out that his team need another 10 points to make sure they are safe from relegation.
Meanwhile, it seems that exciting 16-year-old Alex Scott is attracting UK interest, as Vance confirmed yesterday.
‘He’s been linked with a few clubs recently and was at Bristol for a couple of days this week,’ said Vance.
This time last year it was GFC team-mate Charlton Gauvain who was spending time with The Robins’ Academy, but having had a string of injuries it now looks as if the Championship club have cooled their interest in him. Both youngsters are expected to be in the GFC side today.
It will be GFC’s fourth home game of the season and of the previous three they have won two.
