Multimatic bosses ‘blown away’ by Seb

MULTIMATIC MOTORSPORTS chief technical officer Larry Holt says they are committed to developing Sebastian Priaulx and testing him in some ‘higher performance machinery’.

Holt has spoken warmly of Andy and Sebastian Priaulx’s talents after the two Sarnians signed deals with Multimatic.

‘Andy and Seb are second and third generation Priaulx racers, so high octane petrol flows through that family’s veins.

‘Sebastian blew us, and everybody else, away last year in British GT and so we are committed to developing his talent this coming year by running him at North American circuits in the GT4 Mustang.’

The Guernsey youngster enjoyed great success with the team last year during his maiden British GT Championship campaign alongside Scott Maxwell, with two race victories, three podium finishes and three pole positions in their Ford Mustang guiding them to second in the final GT4 championship standings.

He then went on to make his US racing debut with the team at the end of the year and despite it being his first time competing at Road Atlanta, he stormed to victory alongside Austin Cindric in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.

Now part of Multimatic’s roster of elite drivers going forward, Priaulx Jnr started his 2020 season earlier this month by topping the timesheets in the ROAR test at Daytona. He will be back there next weekend to compete in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race.

‘This is a career-defining moment for me and I want to thank Larry Holt and Multimatic for making this possible,’ said Priaulx Jnr.

‘This now gives me the foundation to focus on developing my skills and knowledge and working my way up the motorsport ladder and Multimatic is the best place for me to do this. I am so motivated and excited about what the future might bring.’

Meanwhile, Priaulx Snr will take on a wider role with the Multimatic team through 2020 and beyond. The new deal extends a partnership between Priaulx and Multimatic that started back in 2016 when he joined their World Endurance Championship programme with Ford. He has remained an important member of the team ever since and secured 10 WEC podiums with them.

In his new role he will take on a new range of responsibilities including an advisory role within the business and work on various racing projects. He will still be in the driving seat too, with a 2020 programme announced in due course.

He’s happy,

‘When I joined Multimatic for the WEC programme in 2016 I was simply blown away with the Ford GT, the engineering, design and skills of the people behind the project. That programme sadly came to an end in 2019 but I’m delighted that I have been able to secure my long-term future with Multimatic.

‘That’s both from a driving perspective but also to have the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience in other ways outside of the car.

‘I have to say a massive thank you to Larry for his faith in me and now also my son.

‘Larry develops and nurtures talent and has given us an opportunity that is beyond our dreams.’

Meanwhile, continuing to help the Priaulxs along with their motorsport ambitions are Ravenscroft, who are now the only CI company financially assisting them.
