Quite impressively, the Guernsey 20-year-old confirmed his crown two races early, making the result of today's 16th and final round insignificant.

The series concluded with a Road Atlanta triple-bill, with Priaulx finishing first and second in the first two races to create an unassailable lead from an advantage that was already, realistically, unlikely to be overturned.

Both Kelly-Moss Road and Race teammate Kay van Berlo and JDX Racing's Parker Thompson were mathematically capable of overtaking him at the final meeting.

But, starting in pole position with his nearest rivals matching their championship order in the grid, No. 15 Priaulx won the first 45min. race with an excellent show of pace, confirming his title early. After Thompson made an early move into second, van Berlo picked him off for a Kelly-Moss team one-two.

Priaulx came close to backing that up in the second race, but van Berlo made a deft overtake of his teammate with 17min. remaining, capitalising on a touch of hesitation from the leader as he negotiated around lapped back-markers.

Nevertheless, Priaulx stayed in touch, finishing solidly second with Thompson another 10sec. adrift.

This title success completes a remarkable season for the Multimatic Motorsports driver, who already had four race wins and 10 podium placings in the series before arriving in Georgia.

'We are all very proud of him as we know how much hard work he has put in to this season,' Multimatic wrote on social media.
