GUERNSEY coach Jordan Reynolds insists the Siam Cup remains a prestigious occasion worth its place as a highlight of the Channel Islands sporting calendar.

The annual clash between the Guernsey and Jersey Rugby Clubs takes place at St Peter on Saturday with the hosts the overwhelming favourites to retain the trophy following their 29-0 win at Footes Lane last year.

The green-and-whites enjoyed a terrific run of three wins in four years from 2005-2008, but since that time Jersey have progressed enormously and are now established as a Championship club just one tier below the elite of the Premiership and three above Guernsey.

'There has been a lot of talk about if it is worth playing, but I don't think people only get involved in sport to play games we know we can win,' Reynolds said.
