As big as they come
HOW big is tomorrow’s National Two promotion play-off at Footes Lane? Jordan Reynolds is in no doubt.
‘Although the fixture list says we still have two games left with this game and the Siam next week, as far as we are concerned we have only one game left,’ said the Guernsey Raiders head coach.
‘This play-off is more important to our club’s legacy and history than a Siam Cup and we are going to throw everything we have got at this game and do everything in our power to get through it – if that means we’ve got no players left [for the Siam], so be it.’
London & South-East Premier runners-up Raiders host their South-West Premier counterparts Bournemouth tomorrow (1.45pm kick-off) with a place in the fourth tier of the RFU ladder at stake.
Reynolds wants his troops to use the hurt of the recent narrow defeats to Barnes and Tring that saw them slip from the top of the table late on as motivation tomorrow.
‘The reality check is that we had two attempts to win the competition already and we failed – not by much, but we just couldn’t get over the line and we’ve got no excuses from those games.
‘This time maybe it’ll be third time lucky.
‘There does seem to be a good vibe this week.
‘It has been a long season but it has been a really good journey and, as tired as we are, we just need that one last push now.’
