Flanker Dan Hill returns to Footes Lane with his new club Clifton as the home side look to build on last week’s historic first win in National Two South.

Raiders coach Jordan Reynolds said that facing Hill gives his troops ‘a little extra motivation’ on a day when Malcolm Barnes has been pencilled in to make his return in a green-and-white shirt having recovered from his broken elbow, providing he comes through the final training session.

‘He was given the all-clear from his specialist four weeks ago so he has been involved in training since then and we earmarked this game as his possible return,’ said Reynolds of his assistant coach who is due to start alongside Jason Batiste in midfield.

‘Although he is a specialist nine, he has played a lot in the centres for us and he does a really good job there.

‘The thing for us at the moment is that the average age of the backline is extremely young so it is good to try and get some older heads in there.

‘When Luke Sayer played against Redruth and helped call the shots, it settled us down a bit and Malcolm could have the same effect.’

Meanwhile, following the awful ankle injury to Charlie Currie in last week’s win at Barnes, Layton Batiste will start at tight-head with Davey Anderson offering an option off the bench.

‘Usually we would give Layton a breather each side of half-time but it depends on the speed of the game and, if it is wet and windy on Saturday, it could be a lot slower,’ Reynolds said.

‘My plan at the moment would still be to have that rotation at prop so it’s an opportunity for him [Anderson] and it’s up to the players to take their opportunities when they come.’
