GUERNSEY 1982 and 1986 Commonwealth Games star Cate Jackson finally saw her last island record tumble last week and yesterday met the swimmer who took it from her.

Kristina Neves broke Jackson's 200m individual medley island long-course record by half a second at the National Youth Championships in Sheffield.

Her time of 2-23.00 surpassed Jackson's 2-23.52 set at the same competition in 1984.

Jackson held many island and Channel Island records and she is proud her last record stood so long, but is pleased it has now been beaten. 'It means the island has moved on,' she said. 'I achieved what I needed to achieve and it's time for other people now.'
