TWENTY-SEVEN clubs from across the UK and Europe were represented at the ever popular OCS sponsored Open International Guernsey Masters Meet at Beau Sejour.

All told, the event attracted 146 swimmers and a large contingent from our two local clubs, Guernsey Swimming Club and Beau Sejour Barracudas, contesting events at a range of distances and strokes and also taking part in some fiercely contested relay races.

Competitors ranged in age from the youngest, Kevin Penney at 19, to the oldest, Susan Halter, 86.

Halter has been a regular supporter of the meet and travels nationally and internationally to compete in Masters events. She competed in the 1948 Olympics and is an inspiration to all, illustrating that swimming is truly a sport for all ages and abilities.
