He flew in from his new Sheffield base on Thursday and will now vie for the title at the GTTA Centre as the top-seeded Sarnian, having gone largely untroubled through his nine matches in December’s qualifier.

Even Dodd is unsure exactly where his own form sits following a lack of recent match experience, but he remains confident of the task ahead.

‘I haven’t played any matches since the qualification on December 2, so form-wise I don’t really know,’ he said.

‘I’ve practised well since the turn of the new year.

‘I’ve had training sessions at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield with Para Team GB – they are based there full time – and I’ve been fortunate enough to be allowed into the sessions as and when I’m available.

‘From those sessions I feel confident enough of getting the results I need in order to win the tournament.’

Stacey twins Josh and Lawrence occupy the second and fifth local slots respectively, split by Phil Ogier in third and Paul Hainsworth in fourth.

Dan Collenette will complete the Guernsey sextet after trumping several other island players in a tight run for the final qualifying spot.

Fellow youngster Ben Foss is the main absence from the Guernsey line-up following earlier injury.

Mariusz Cieminski is the leading Jersey qualifier in a roster that also features Tyler Gosselin, Eugene Ellis, Jack Mills, Leon Pierre and Mario Martinka.

The action is scheduled to get under way at 10am.
