Ben Simmons produced an impressive display but it was not enough to stop the Philadelphia 76ers from losing to the Toronto Raptors.

Finishing the game with 18 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, Simmons recorded the best start in a rookie season in Sixer franchise history, joining Oscar Robertson as the only players ever to post 10-plus points, 10-plus rebounds and 5-plus assists in their first three NBA games.

Despite the stats, the 76ers were defeated 128-94 by the Raptors, who proved too good overall.

The Orlando Magic ended a 17-game losing streak to the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 114-93 victory.

The skid dated back to November 2012 and was the longest formerly active losing streak in the NBA.

Despite being down two starters because of injuries, the Magic stunned LeBron James and the Cavs, remaining ahead of their rivals from start to finish.

Defending champions the Golden State Warriors lost 111-101 against the Memphis Grizzlies, with the Warriors’ Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant both ejected from the game after arguing with officials.

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a career-high 44 points to power the Milwaukee Bucks to a 113-110 win over the Portland Trail Blazers, while the Detroit Pistons clawed back a 21-point deficit to beat the New York Knicks 111-107.

Elsewhere, the San Antonio Spurs beat the Chicago Bulls 87-77, the Miami Heat won 112-108 against the Indiana Pacers, the Houston Rockets defeated the Dallas Mavericks 107-91 and the Utah Jazz clinched a 96-87 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Denver Nuggets overcame the Sacramento Kings 96-79 and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Phoenix Suns 130-88.
