US Open day 10: Osaka and Nishikori make history in New York
Highlights from day 10 at Flushing Meadows.
History was made at the US Open as Naomi Osaka and Kei Nishikori both reached the semi-finals.
It is the first time that a Japanese man and woman have made the last four at any grand slam in the Open era.
Nishikori will face Novak Djokovic, who ended the run of battling John Millman, while last year’s beaten finalist Madison Keys awaits Osaka. Jamie Murray, meanwhile, is through to the mixed doubles final again, with Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

Schiavone bids farewell
Former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone chose Flushing Meadows to officially announce her retirement on Wednesday. The 38-year-old Italian, the champion at Roland Garros in 2010 and beaten finalist a year later, played her last match in Gstaad in July.
Schiavone said: “I arrived at this decision to say goodbye to tennis with my heart, because my head, when I arrived here, said, ‘please go to the court, fight, because I can beat many other players’. But my heart says that I am in peace like this.”
Thursday’s highlights
Serena Williams takes on Latvian Anastasija Sevastova, who is through to the last four at a slam for the first time, before the clash between Osaka and Keys.
Raducanu and McHugh will both look to reach the junior quarter-finals while Alfie Hewett, who had to sleep on an airport floor during a nightmare journey to New York, and Gordon Reid begin the defence of their wheelchair doubles title.
