What the papers say

Juan Mata is eager to return to Spain and head back to Valencia if he leaves Manchester United this summer, the Daily Mirror reports. The paper says a report in France indicates the Spaniard, whose contract is up at the end of the season, is waiting to see if Valencia get in touch before speaking to other clubs.

Manchester United have reportedly set their sights on Sampadoria defender Joachim Andersen. The Mirror says reports in Italy suggest United scouts were watching the 22-year-old at his club’s defeat by Torino last weekend. Sampdoria chairman Massimo Ferrero is reportedly unwilling to listen to any offers below 30million euros (£26million).
