Fulham sign former Sunderland striker Josh Maja on loan from Bordeaux
The 22-year-old Nigeria international has bagged 11 goals in 49 matches for the Ligue 1 side.
Fulham have strengthened their forward options in a bid to retain their Premier League place with the signing of Bordeaux striker Josh Maja on a loan deal for the rest of the season.
Maja spent time in Fulham’s youth set-up before joining Sunderland on a scholarship and then a professional deal. He scored 16 times in 41 games for the Black Cats and then moved on to Bordeaux in January 2019.
The 22-year-old Nigeria international has bagged 11 goals in 49 matches for the Ligue 1 side but is now returning to the Cottagers, who sit seven points adrift of safety, albeit with a game in hand on 17th-placed Brighton.
“I’m really excited and proud to sign for Fulham on loan for the remainder of the season,” Maja said on the club’s official website.
“This is a big opportunity and I look forward to meeting up with the team and working hard to achieve positive results.”
Vice-chairman Tony Khan added: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring Josh back to Fulham.
“He’s made tremendous progress in the years since he left our academy, and now he’s returning to the club in our first team with an opportunity to earn his place in our squad and prove himself at the highest level.”
