The striker has signed a two-year contract with the option for a third season and the move sees him reunited with manager Rafael Benitez, who he worked under at Newcastle.

22.48 – Serge Aurier has had his contract at Tottenham terminated by mutual consent, the Premier League club have announced.

The 28-year-old right-back had just under a year remaining on his deal at Spurs, who he joined from Paris St Germain in August 2017.

In a statement on the club’s official website, Aurier said: “I have really enjoyed my time at Spurs and would like to thank the club and the fans, but I feel now is the right time for me to move onto a new challenge.”

22.45 – Arsenal have completed the signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna on a “long-term” contract.

The Japan international, who can play both right-back and centre-back, has made 63 appearances for the Serie A side during the last two seasons and represented his country at Tokyo 2020 this summer.

Manager Mikel Arteta told the official club website: “Takehiro is a strong defender with good experience in Serie A and at international level.

“He’s a versatile defender with great defensive qualities, high technical ability and composure on the ball.

“He will be an important member of our squad. We look forward to Takehiro joining up with us when he returns from international duty.”

22.31 – Arsenal have allowed right-back Hector Bellerin to join Real Betis on loan for the rest of the season.

The 26-year-old has spent the last decade with the club and made 239 appearances for the Gunners, winning three FA Cups during his time at the Emirates Stadium.

Bellerin sustained anterior cruciate ligament damage at the beginning of 2019 and has struggled to hold onto a regular starting berth since, with boss Mikel Arteta not using the Spaniard so far this season and subsequently letting the defender sign for his boyhood team on the final day of the transfer window.

22.26 – That was quick!

Crystal Palace have just unveiled new signing Odsonne Edouard in his new club kit.

22.03 – Barnsley have announced the loan signing of midfielder Claudio Gomes from Manchester City.

The 21-year-old, a former Paris St Germain player, will stay at Oakwell for the rest of the season.

Gomes told Barnsley’s official website: “I’m excited because I want to play men’s football and I think, for me, it’s a good place to play and get experience.”

22.00 – One hour of the window remains. How many late deals will we see go through?

21.59 – Tottenham are in talks with Serge Aurier over terminating his contract.

The right-back’s deal runs out at the end of the season and the PA news agency understands he has no future at the club.

21.50 – Crystal Palace have completed the signing of forward Odsonne Edouard from Celtic for an initial fee of £15million.

The Eagles were eager to improve their attacking options and manager Patrick Vieira will be pleased to secure the services of his countryman.

Edouard has signed a four-year deal with the Premier League club and links up with Said Aigoun, who worked with the striker at Paris St Germain and moved to Selhurst Park as development coach this summer.

He told the Palace website: “I’m very happy to be here today. I can’t (wait) start to train with the team and to play for this club.

“Scoring goals in the Premier League may be the biggest challenge in my career but I’m confident in myself and my team-mates to be successful.”

21.05 – Manchester United are still celebrating after securing Cristiano Ronaldo.

20.49 – Real Madrid look set to miss out on landing Kylian Mbappe as Paris St Germain step up their efforts to tie the France star to a lucrative new contract.

PSG are understood to be dubious about whether Real Madrid have the means to follow through on the bids they have made for the player towards the end of the summer transfer window.

20.30 – West Ham have completed their second business of the day, bringing in midfielder Alex Kral after earlier completing a move for attacker Nikola Vlasic.

Czech Republic international Kral has joined on a season-long loan from Slavia Prague, with the option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.

The 23-year-old links up with compatriots Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal at the London Stadium and featured for his country at Euro 2020 this summer.

Hammers boss David Moyes is pleased to secure the services of Kral, he told the official club website: “He will provide good competition in the centre of midfield.

“He is another young, talented player who we feel has a big potential and will be capable of adapting to the demands of the Premier League.”

Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White joined Sheffield United on loan for the remainder of the season.

Bournemouth announced the arrival of midfielder Ryan Christie, 26, from Celtic on a three-year deal.

Cherries chief executive Neill Blake told the club’s official website: “We are delighted to have secured the services of Ryan.

“He was being courted by a number of Premier League clubs, so it is a huge coup to have signed him.”

And Nottingham Forest completed the double signing of Braian Ojeda and Mohamed Drager in an attempt to turnaround their fortunes.

Chris Hughton’s side have failed to win any of their opening five games in the Championship this season and sit bottom of the table.

19.31 – Rangers defender Nikola Katic joined Hajduk Split on a season-long loan.

The Croatia centre-back, who has made 59 appearances for the Ibrox club since joining from NK Slaven Belupo in 2018, has returned to his homeland to get his career back on track following a difficult period battling injury.

A statement on Rangers’ website said: “Everyone at Rangers wishes Niko well for his loan spell as he works his way back following a difficult year on the sidelines.”

19.25 – QPR have signed Watford striker Andre Gray on a season-long loan.

The 30-year-old worked under current R’s boss Mark Warburton at Brentford during the 2014/15 campaign, scoring 17 league goals as the Bees reached the Championship play-offs.

Gray told QPR’s official website: “I am really excited.

“Obviously the manager had a massive part to play in it, having worked with him before.

“I wanted to go somewhere where I can try to get back to my best and I felt this was the best option.

“It was an easy decision.”

It will be the 20-year-old’s third temporary move away from Stamford Bridge and he has also signed a new contract with Chelsea to keep him at the club until the summer of 2024.

The 27-year-old, who netted 14 goals for the Swans last season, has joined the Cherries on a three-year deal.

Lowe told the club’s official website: “I’m over the moon to be here at this big club and I am buzzing to get started.”

18.30 – Tottenham completed the signing of right-back Emerson Royal from Barcelona on a five-year deal.

Spurs have spent £25.8million to secure the services of the four-capped Brazil international, the PA news agency understands.

Emerson, who has spent the last two seasons with Real Betis, will provide greater competition at right-back for new Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 22-year-old, who was born in Sao Paulo, officially signed for the Catalan club earlier this summer but has now joined Tottenham, where he will be able to link up with his new team-mates later this week.

18.02 – Celtic announced the signing of Greece striker Giorgos Giakoumakis from Dutch side VVV-Venlo on a five-year deal.

The 26-year-old forward finished the 2020/21 Eredivisie campaign as top scorer with 26 goals.

The former AEK Athens striker told Celtic’s official website: “Celtic is one of the world’s great football clubs with the best fans around.

“It is a club I have admired for so long and it will now be an honour to wear this famous jersey.

“To know that the manager wanted me so much to join Celtic is really humbling and it makes me know I have made the right choice.”

18.00 – Bang on 6pm – with five hours remaining – Leicester completed the signing of winger Ademola Lookman on a season-long loan from RB Leipzig.

Lookman told LCFC TV: “I’m delighted to be here. It’s a great honour to be at such a big and amazing club with such a huge history and a quality group of players.”

Lookman, who started his career at Charlton, joined RB Leipzig from Everton in 2019, signing a five-year-deal, after a previous loan spell.

He impressed on loan for Fulham last season, despite the Cottagers’ relegation from the Premier League, scoring four goals in 34 top-flight appearances.

The 18-year-old midfielder has signed a six-year contract at the Bernabeu.

Praet has made 60 appearances for Leicester in all competitions, scoring three goals.

16.50 – Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson has completed his move to Dutch club Feyenoord on a season-long loan.

Nelson, who made his Gunners debut at the age of 17 in the 2017 Community Shield, has found himself out of favour with boss Mikel Arteta.

16.30 – James has been speaking about his move to Elland Road.

“It’s been a bit of a whirlwind for me, bit of a crazy time, but I’m here now and grateful that the club still believed in me from that time two-and-a-half years ago. I’m happy to be here and can’t wait to play in front of these fans,” James told Sky Sports.

“There were a couple of jokes in the boardroom that it’s actually done now. Last time I signed everything and it actually fell through at the last minute.

“Everything I’ve done today feels like deja vu. It feels like yesterday, everything in football goes so quick. I’m going on international (duty) now and looking forward to getting back and playing in that first game against Liverpool.

“It’s completely the right decision for my football career. I had an unbelievable time (at Manchester United) – made great friends, the staff and fans were amazing to me – but it’s my time to move on. I’ve got games under my belt at top level and think I can add something here.”

Barcelona, who were unable to sanction Lionel Messi’s new contract due to their financial situation, unveiled Aguero at the club on May 31 but he has finally been registered within LaLiga rules.

“The salary reductions for Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, two of the four first team captains, signed this Tuesday have allowed FC Barcelona to achieve two objectives: the registration of Sergio Aguero with the Spanish Football League (LFP) and to extend the Club’s limit with regards to financial fair play regulations,” a club statement read.

16.25 – So what are Leeds getting for their money?

The fee is undisclosed but reported to be in the region of £25m.

“He’s been told he can leave, and he’s potentially got a move to a club that wants him. Will do his confidence good, we all want to be told we’re doing well,” Page said.

Sporting director Monchi has held a press conference and reiterated what Kounde’s release clause is, suggesting the club are not prepared to do business unless it is met.

“The only written, formal offer from Chelsea came last Wednesday, around 5pm. We weren’t satisfied with the offer, and it was linked to Chelsea selling a player. It was a decent fee but it didn’t meet our criteria,” Monchi said as reported by the club.

“We haven’t spoken with Chelsea since Friday night. We all decided that it was best Jules didn’t travel to Elche. It’s normal for players to be affected by news of any kind. Last year he had the interest from City and now Chelsea this year.

“Kounde’s clause never went up to 90 million euros. It has always been 80 million.”

12.21 – Tottenham’s Tanguy Ndombele has been linked with a move away from the club having been frozen out in the early weeks of the season by new manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 23-year-old, who can play as left-back or as a wide midfielder and helped Spain win a silver medal at this summer’s Olympics, has agreed a five-year contract with the Seagulls and becomes the club’s third summer signing after Enock Mwepu and Kjell Scherpen.

11.02 – “What’s in the box?” Blackpool have been among the busier clubs so far today and they have announced the signing of Jordan Gabriel on a permanent transfer from Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old defender, who spent last season on loan at Bloomfield Road and helped the club win promotion, has signed a four-year deal.
