There’s been no bigger announcement this summer than the identity of the new star of Doctor Who.
So when Doncaster had some news of their own, they decided to nod to the BBC’s reveal of Jodie Whittaker as the first female Time Lord in their Twitter video.
A Marquis signing if ever there was one.
But while Whittaker’s casting was greeted with a range of reactions, from joy to outrage, striker John Marquis’s new contract didn’t prove quite so controversial.
Marquis was the top scorer in League Two last season, helping Donny win promotion.
The video is just the latest in what has become a summer of weird and wonderful Twitter-based transfer and contract announcements.
