Hero the Hedgehog might be everyone’s favourite thing about the Athletics World Championships
Hero has some big fans on Twitter.
It’s been pretty rainy over the course of the IAAF World Championships in London, but the games’ mascot, Hero the Hedgehog, has been keeping the crowd’s spirits up.
From using mats as a slip-n-slide….
…to untying Usain Bolt’s laces, this mascot is making some serious fans online and in the stadium.
Elinor designed a hedgehog because she wanted to show the importance of protecting the species.
As her reward for designing such an inspirational mascot, she appeared on Blue Peter with Hero and was given four tickets a session at the games, a VIP tour of the stadium, a framed photo of the finished mascot and a Blue Peter orange competition badge.
She’s created one heck of a mascot, with a cheeky personality to boot. Here are his best bits, showing him fighting with Iwan Thomas and giving himself a rather unfortunate injury.
