A pair of what appeared to be mating rabbits at Dundalk racecourse had a lucky escape on Friday night.
As the runners thundered down the track in the 6.45pm race, the distracted duo dashed off at the very last second – just as the field were inches away.
Happily, having sensed the danger, they were able to scarper behind the runners and off to safety.
The race was won by 2-1 favourite Sky Seven, who was ridden by Ronan Whelan, a jockey in great form on the night, winning three of the first four contests on the floodlit card.
