Shaking up a bottle of champagne is a time-honoured tradition when it comes to celebrating sporting achievement – but it is not without risk.

Cardiff Met WFC goalkeeper Estelle Randall was celebrating with her team-mates on Sunday after they were presented with the Welsh Women’s Premier League trophy following a 2-0 win over Briton Ferry.

When the cork did finally pop, it appeared to take her completely by surprise, sending her shooting backwards as she lost her grasp on the bottle.

Cardiff Met branded it the “funniest trophy celebration you will ever see” in a tweet, adding: “No goalkeepers were harmed in the making of this video.”

Randall herself proved she saw the funny side as she tweeted: “Shot stopping > champagne popping.”
