Man dies after jumping into sea by Foresters Arms

A MAN died on Sunday after jumping into the sea at St George's Esplanade.

All three emergency services and the Sarnia workboat were called out shortly before 10pm.

'A male was seen by witnesses to jump in the water by the Foresters Arms,' said duty inspector Karl Zierlinger.

'Police, fire and rescue and the ambulance all attended. The Sarnia workboat was called and recovered the male from the water. He has been taken to A&E.'

A police statement this morning said that the man died in hospital.

'The matter is being investigated by police but it is not deemed to be suspicious at this time,' said police.
