It is the culmination of nearly 20 years of work by Jennie and Geoff Dorey, who want the sculpture to become an icon for Guernsey.

‘It is a dream realised and we are very excited,’ Mrs Dorey said.

The sculpture cost in excess of £100,000, which has been paid for by private individuals.

It has been placed temporarily at Le Friquet and it is planned that it will be opened up to public subscription once a permanent home is found.
