Lifeboat crew pull woman out of water off Petit Bot

INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing after a woman died after being spotted in the sea off Petit Bot Bay yesterday morning.

Guernsey Coastguard received a call at 7.50am from a member of the public that there was a possible body in the water.

Police arrived at Petit Bot by 8.09am, while the lifeboat left St Peter Port Harbour at about 8.17am before travelling at speeds of up to 25 knots to reach the scene.

The Spirit of Guernsey reached the casualty 100m. off the bay at 8.40am before returning to the harbour.

The lifeboat arrived at ramp two at the Commercial Quay at 9am, transferring the casualty to St John Ambulance and Rescue.

An ambulance and paramedic met the lifeboat, while a second paramedic in a car also attended.

The crews remained on the scene for about an hour.

‘No further information is available at this time regarding the identity of the individual and police investigations are ongoing,’ a Law Enforcement spokesman said.
