Before the organisation looks towards its annual nerine festival taking place next month, it had one final plant sale at Sausmarez Manor.

‘It’s been quite busy. We’ve got a wide variety of plants for sale, exotic plants, indoor plants,’ said plant sale organiser Linda Fermont.

‘It’s very unusual, because our nerines are not meant to be in flower until October, but we were in the glasshouse yesterday and some of them started coming up, so we’re selling them today as they won’t last until our nerine festival.

‘The year as a whole has been good actually. Our first one in April was very good, and then our giant plant sale was successful, then the Lt-Governor one and this one.’

She added that there had not been one particular plant that was popular among buyers as they had something for everyone.

‘We have our nerine festival for two weeks at Guernsey Gardens, which is always beautiful, a whole greenhouse of these plants,’ said Guernsey Plant Heritage chairman Charles Tracy.

This year’s nerine festival takes place from 12 October to 26 October.

The nerines have had National Collection status since 2017.
