Storms and high tides lash island coasts

A COMBINATION of strong winds and high tides caused problems in many coastal areas last night and this morning.

Police were forced to close much of the coast road between Albecq and The Imperial and debris has been thrown over the wall.

There are also reports of flooding along The Quay, St Peter Port, and debris along the Banques

Stormy conditions are expected to persist throughout the weekend with a 9.9 metre tide at 8.54pm tonight and a 10.2 metre tide at 8.13am tomorrow.

The forecast for today is for south-west winds gusting up to 50mph while tomorrow see winds drop to moderate at first, picking up to strong later in the day.
