The walkers set off from Market Square at 9am and walked north to the Vale Douzaine Room, before turning west and going along the coast between Grand Havre and Vazon.

The participants then turned inland to walk back to the Town Church.

World Aid Walk Committee chairwoman Bella Farrell said she was really pleased with the turnout.

'This is the best weather we have had in 10 years,' she said.

'We have had some bad weather in the past, but today there is slight breeze and it's sunny.'

The walk was raising money for Action Aid, Christian Aid, Oxfam, Save The Children and the Tumaini Fund.
