No pleasing everyone on Liberation Day
LIBERATION celebrations can't please everyone, organisers have said, in defence of this year's festivities.
But Culture and Leisure minister Mike O'Hara said criticisms would be taken on board to improve matters for next year's celebrations.
His comments came after local radio station Island FM reported 'hundreds of islanders' were not impressed by the activities in St Peter Port. According to comments it received, many parents said there needed to be more for young children to do and the stalls should have been more spread out to stop the piers becoming overcrowded by people queuing for food.
In response, Deputy O'Hara said: 'Every Liberation Day there is always criticism one way or another.
'You can't please everyone all the time.
'We at Culture and Leisure, along with the Guernsey Event Company, take on everybody's questions and critiques and we look at it all.
'We see what we can do and try and improve on it year after year.'
