SIX new birds have been donated to a traumatised chicken owner who has suffered sleepless nights since 13 of her pets were killed by dogs.

Cindy Lawson, pictured, said the gesture had restored her faith in human nature after the attack, near Les Rouvets Lake in St Saviour's, which forced her to install electric fencing around a new pen.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident which left 13 of Mrs Lawson's chickens dead in April.

'It was a very generous, thoughtful and kind gesture,' she said.

'It has restored my faith in human nature a little bit because someone has gone to that much trouble to make an offer like that.'

The benefactor, another chicken owner, who donated the six birds, wished to remain anonymous.
