Ben Le Prevost, 38, has been making chocolate for eight years, but this was the first time he had entered the competition.
'There seemed to be some great people judging it, so to have their feedback was a great opportunity,' he said.
The competition took place in Florence in February but the results have only just been announced on Saturday.
Mr Le Prevost makes an array of chocolates at his Mill Street shop, but he decided to enter the milk chocolate ganache and truffle section, using miso – a type of Japanese fermented soya bean paste – to flavour his creation.
