Cyclists head to Paris for Sarah Groves Foundation
IT WAS a proud moment for Sarah Groves' father yesterday as more than 50 cyclists set off on a 600-mile challenge to Paris.
The 'Tour de Sez' group has so far raised £100,000 for the Sarah Groves Foundation and will continue to raise funds over the next week.
Vic Groves, pictured, is part of an eight-man support team, which will be following the riders as they cycle to 'Sarah's bridge' – Ponts des Arts – in Paris before returning to the island.
'I have very mixed emotions today – it is quite easy to forget why we are doing this,' he said.
'Each rider has put in so much time and effort and this has been a total commitment by all the team,' he said.
'Riders have trained for thousands of miles and have also been busy fundraising.
'I can't speak more highly of the way they have all entered into it.'
Mr Groves said all those taking part were fit and ready.
