RESCUED seals Trinity and Eden are back in the wild after being released in Jethou yesterday.

The pair were found in January and the GSPCA has been rehabilitating them ever since.

Members of the media were invited to travel over with the GSPCA, on Bumblebee Boat Cruises, to take the grey seals out for their safe release.

The cages they were transported in were taken to the beach by quad bike from the boat. When the cage doors were opened fish were put out to reassure them and lead them to the sea.

It took a few seconds for them to leave, but the pair moved and once they were swimming stayed together, bobbing in and out of the water.

GSPCA manager Steve Byrne said how important it was to see the mammals back in their

habitat.

'They were at death's door and to get them back up to their expected weight and to be able to release them and see them jumping in the sea where they belong is fantastic. We are hopeful the guys on Jethou will keep an eye on them, they will venture out but they will come back here too.'

Trinity was found near the Fairy Ring at Pleinmont and Eden was found on the Castle Cornet slipway. Both weighed about 15 kilos. Trinity now weighs 57 kilos and Eden 47.
