HSBC closing accounts

BANK accounts are being shut apparently with no notice, HSBC customers have warned.

Published

Over the past two weeks customers have contacted the Guernsey Press to say they got home to letters from the bank, claiming that further 'to previous correspondence' it was immediately shutting their accounts and enclosed a cheque with the remaining balance.

But, the customers say they received no prior warning and the bank's decision has left them in trouble.

HSBC refused to comment on any specific cases, but said closing an account was not something it wanted to do.
