In the Royal Court yesterday, Wesley Guilbert, 35, admitted a total of four drug offences, including being involved with another in the production of methylamphetamine, known as crystal meth. He also admitted one count of obstructing police officers in the course of their duties. Wife Jennifer, 33, admits three drug offences, including possessing cannabis resin, a Class B substance, with a local street value of up to £5,579, with intent to supply.

Crown Advocate Fiona Russell told the court how Mr Guilbert, between 14 January and 1 April this year, had bought items that were conducive with the manufacture of what was reclassified as a Class A drug locally in 2007.

They included fire extinguishers, lithium batteries, the medication Sudafed, lighter fuel, and the chemical, sulphate of ammonia.

All were found during searches of the flat that the couple shared in Union Street. States Analyst, Dr Roland Archer was present on the second occasion and he concluded that production of the drug had taken place on the premises. A large number of other items relating to controlled drugs were seized.
