Unite the Union regional officer Bob Lanning this morning revealed that 563 of its 581 voting members rejected the latest proposals in the long-running public sector pensions dispute.

Unite recorded just 12 votes in favour of the proposals and there were six spoilt papers.

Mr Lanning, pictured, said all but one of the other unions had rejected the latest offer and they were now calling for urgent talks with the States in a bid to avoid a possible legal battle or strike action, which could follow if changes were forced on employees.
