Education said it was disappointed to confirm the facility was still out of action after a fire ripped through its plant room on 9 December.
'Forensic investigations are still ongoing and as the safety of our staff and pupils is of prime importance, the facility has to remain shut until all investigations, testing and remedial works are complete. This is in line with a prohibition notice issued by the Health and Safety Executive,' it said.
'It is still too early to determine the exact cause of the problems and who is responsible but the extent of works to recover from the incident has been found to be greater than had initially been expected. As investigations are ongoing, the Education Department is unable to comment further at this time. These investigations are being carried out by independent third parties.'
Education would not confirm whether there had been any work carried out in the lead-up to the fault. Information on www.gov.gg showed a prohibition notice was used by the HSE to stop work in order to prevent serious personal injury.
