In the wake of a public meeting about traffic issues in the area, Rob Edwards, pictured, said he has suggested to the Environment Department's Active Travel Unit about removing the earth bank which runs alongside the field – near the entrance to Les Canus.
At the meeting, the Active Travel Unit presented three options, two of which were one-way systems. The first would run to the junction with Canus before feeding traffic into Les Grandes Capelles Lane and the St Sampson's High School one-way system and the second would take drivers much further before they were able to turn around.
But Mr Edwards said imposing such restrictions would have a detrimental impact on the business, as the vast containers needed to keep the shelves stocked would not be able to make it there, and it could make the area more dangerous.
Widening the road would make the entire area safer and have the least impact, he said.
'One-way systems will just force more traffic along the heavily used Camp du Roi, and at the weekends that is a nightmare as it is.
'We would be very pleased to offer this land. My family have lived around this area all their lives – my wife walked along the top of this hedge to get to Capelles School when she was a child.
'I would rather see this removed and widened than put in an over-complex one-way system.'
