The major construction firm yesterday said it was looking at all cost saving avenues and confirmed letters had been sent out to its employees.

RG Falla, however, was unable to provide any details of the potential scale of any redundancies.

Joint managing director Peter Gregory, pictured, said the company had been extremely busy with various large projects over recent years and had increased its workforce accordingly.

It was currently in a position where there were not the same kind of size contracts around to replace them.

'RG Falla have, in recent months, completed substantial contracts at Beaucamps School, Maison Maraitaine, The Rockmount, Cour du Parc and other large private house developments,' he said.

'We are also near to the completion of what was the Carterets Hotel. 'We have been extremely busy over the past few years and have built our workforce up accordingly.

'There are not currently the size of contracts around to replace these completed projects so we are now looking at all avenues and ways in which cost savings can be made so the company will continue to operate in line with the current economic climate.'
