The number 51 bus normally travels north along the seafront, before turning inland up the Grand Bouet.
But CT Plus operations manager Lee Murphy said a driver on one service yesterday morning had accidentally missed this crucial left hand turning on Les Banques.
'He tried to correct his mistake by turning into the Clos des Isles, but soon realised that once he was in he could not get back out,' he said.
'He called the depot for assistance.'
The company's staff arrived on the scene quickly and managed to manoeuvre the bus safely back on route.
