Ed Miliband, pictured, launched his attack on Guernsey, Jersey, Bermuda, the Isle of Man, Gibraltar and other overseas territories late on Friday, during which he claimed to have written to the leadership of all the territories demanding that – in the event Labour wins the general election in May – they produce a register of beneficial ownership within six months of him becoming Prime Minister.
But it turns out that the letter had not arrived in Frossard House – or even the island – despite Mr Miliband's claims.
As politicians from the accused territories launched a vigorous defence of their respective positions over the weekend, the letter still had not arrived.
So on Monday morning, the Policy Council decided to chase the Labour party for it.
A spokesman said it finally arrived yesterday afternoon and a response was being drawn up from the island.
