However, the first few homes have now been offered the chance to join the main drain as work progresses.
Guernsey Water started installing mains drains along the road at the start of the year and Route du Longfrie was due to reopen on 1st March.
But a spokesman said the contractor had run into problems.
'We are roughly two weeks behind schedule at the moment due to encountering rock at the bottom of the trench,' he said.
