From this Saturday the only drivers heading South will be able to use the North Esplanade and the Quay from the Weighbridge Roundabout to the Town Church in order for the the road to be resurfaced.
The road will remain one way throughout the six week programme, which is being undertaken by Ronez on behalf of the Public Services Department.
Northbound Traffic will be diverted along Fountain Street, La Charroterie, Prince Albert Road, Queens Road, Grange Road and St Julian's Avenue.
During the final phase, due to the nature of the junctions, the direction of the one-way will switch to allow traffic travelling North. This will last for roughly three days.
Drivers are warned of long delays, especially during peak times.
