Graffiti trio were high on magic mushrooms

VANDALS behind a spree of 'vile' and 'obscene' graffiti before Christmas will each serve 180 hours of community service.

Judge Philip Robey said it was the longest community service order he had ever issued when Ethan Millar, 20, of 26, Rougeval Estate, Rouge Rue, St Peter Port, Daniel Pengelley, 20, of 31, Courtil St Jacques, St Peter Port, and David Dyson, 19, of Chiquita, Les Banques, St Sampson's, appeared in the Magistrate's Court yesterday.

While he gave credit for their guilty pleas and the fact the trio had complied with curfew orders since they sprayed offensive language and images over homes, vehicles and road signs in the St Sampson's area, including the Bowl on Victoria Avenue between 22 and 24 December last year, Judge Robey said the seriousness of the offence did not need to be spelled out.

'This was vile, obscene and offensive vandalism that would have been deeply distressing to all affected,' he said.

'Particularly the owners who were targeted with the filth during the lead-up to what should have been a peaceful and happy Christmas.'
