Car users ignoring parking allocation, say nursing staff

NURSING staff's cars have been damaged and blocked in by inconsiderate drivers at Saumarez Park, St. John's Residential Home matron Sue Fleming has said.

The home is based close to the refurbished playground and in recent months it has become harder for staff to find spaces.

The Environment Department did allocate six spaces in the main car park for the home's evening shift, after there were concerns about women walking across the grounds alone at night to the other car park.

But the situation has only grown worse.

Mrs Fleming, pictured, said the six spaces were only put aside from 1pm until 10pm, but drivers have been ignoring that.

'A lot of the time the spaces are taken by other people,' she said.

'They do not take any notice of the signs. Polite notices were put on cars, but some people have torn them up and been quite rude to staff.

'We stopped because I didn't want anyone confronted or abused.'
