A 10-year strategic plan Guernsey Tourism Strategic Plan 2015 - 2025 was published today, with proposals about how to increase the number of visitors by 30% to 400,000 within 10 years.

Marketing and tourism director Mike Hopkins said it had taken a year to draw up the plan.

'Work to secure current and develop new strategic routes to the island is a top priority, along with developing the island's product offering and continually improving the visitor experience,' he said.

'It is important that VisitGuernsey continues to work with industry to make Guernsey a top destination of choice for short breaks and holidays.'

Tourism is a vital industry for the Guernsey economy, and accounts for nearly 5% of GDP and around 8% of employment.
