Jersey survived a late Guernsey fightback to end a run of three successive Muratti defeats with a 3-2 victory.
Around 2,500 spectators from Guernsey and Jersey attended the match. However, many Sarnians said they felt 'deflated' after such high expectations for the match.
A Guernsey victory would have made history, since no Guernsey team has won the Vase four times in a row since before the Second World War.
Dick Mourant, 71, said he thought there was 'no passion' from the Guernsey team.
'They did try harder in the second half, I'll give them that, but it was one of the worst games I have ever watched. They didn't change their tactics when it mattered most and Jersey just came up behind them and went for it.'
