Association president Peter Derham said it expected to discuss with the Guernsey Harbours management team what changes in fees would be 'acceptable' ahead of any overhaul, potentially in 2017.

He also warned against any plans by Guernsey Harbours to stick to major hikes in fees, which were mooted during the #myharbours consultation last year and which Mr Derham warned would see larger boats face a 100% increase and smaller ones see increases on a 'sliding scale' with everyone paying 100% more by the end of a four-year period.

'The proposals that were put forward originally at public presentations were totally unacceptable,' he said. 'I made it quite clear that they were unacceptable. Since then we have had discussions with the harbour management team and have been promised more discussions.
