Fast ferries rescheduled, Liberation running slow

CONDOR is rescheduling all high-speed sailings this weekend after its £50m. Liberation developed another fault.

In a week where the ship saw one door come loose and an emergency hatch fall off, it is now beset by an exhaust problem which led to cancellations yesterday and means both it and Rapide, which will operate an inter-island service, will be sailing at revised times.

Jersey's Minister for Economic Development, Lyndon Farnham, says that he has been in talks with his Guernsey counterpart, Kevin Stewart, about the 'unacceptable' disruption to the service.

Senator Farnham says he is examining the operating agreement to see what remedies the States might have and will push for a comprehensive service review to be brought forward.

Commercial executive director Alicia Andrews said the company was doing everything it could.

'We would like to apologise to all of our passengers who are affected by this disruption to Condor Liberation's sailings,' she said. 'Our engineers, port teams and support staff are working around the clock to minimise disruption to passengers.

'Repairs are in progress and we are able to maintain a timetable that will ensure that the overwhelming majority of our customers can reach their destinations.'
