States website designed to be more 'customer friendly'

A 'CUSTOMER' focus and user friendly design are key elements to the new States website, chief executive Paul Whitfield has said, bringing with it efficiencies and savings.

The new-look website at www.gov.gg aims to make it easier for all members of the community to navigate, with a blue design and bold type, picked to aid the visually impaired.

The site, which was largely created in-house and will be online tomorrow morning, brings with it a focus on some of the most popular topics and themes for members of the public, rather than on departments and individual mandates.

Mr Whitfield said the most important thing was to satisfy the users of the services and by doing so tie in with his vision under the public service reform framework.

'Quite clearly people have said they were dissatisfied with the website, but people were still using it to access information,' he said. 'For me, this is not a task and finish piece of work.

'The website must be a live facility, looking after our customers. There is an opportunity to listen and improve and make sure information is there for people.'
