Bryan Gray had denied a series of allegations he faced at a Nursing and Midwifery Council disciplinary hearing at which one witness said he turned a ward into a scene from Benny Hill.

He has insisted that there was an atmosphere of 'hugging and welcoming'.

Gray groped three women on Divette and Hanois wards and asked one nurse if her breasts were 'getting bigger' and said he wanted to touch them, the hearing heard.

Shruti Sharma, for the NMC, reminded the panel of its duty in the protection of patients and the vulnerability of some of the witnesses they had seen.

She also pointed out that the misconduct was towards four colleagues over a number of years.

Ms Sharma said: 'There is a serious risk of repetition, he had shown a distinct lack of remorse and has taken no responsibility for his actions.'

The panel cleared him of asking to see a nurse's bra, but found he acted inappropriately and that his actions were sexually motivated.
